First introduced in 2000,
CMAA’s Manager in Development (MID) program was designed as a mentor/mentee program to educate entry- and mid-level managers through exposure to diverse departments within a club operation.
The program began as the brainchild of William A. Schulz, MCM, CCE, as he developed the concept for his successful MCM monograph, Club Management Opportunities Assistant Manager Development Program.
There are three MID specializations (Club Management Essentials, Club Operations, and Club Leadership), which are a sequence of four modules as
explained here.
Upon purchase, you will be sent an email to select a specialization. Each of the modules presents information about specific topics in accordance with CMAA’s 11 Competency areas under the professional guidance of a mentor. Each of the modules includes a textbook, portfolio builders and a PowerPoint presentation to supplement the education from the mentor.
Five Club Management Institute (CMI) credits will be awarded for the successful completion of each module. A manager who completes an entire specialization will earn 20 CMI credits and a certificate of completion. In addition, one Association Activity credit will be awarded to the mentor for each session that he or she helps to deliver and four Association Activity credits to the MID Reviewer.
